Eligibility:
All students who
live within the North
Springs Charter High School attendance zone
are eligible for the magnet program.
All students who
live within the North Fulton County School District, but outside
the North Springs attendance zone are eligible for the
magnet program, but must apply to the charter as well as the
magnet program and should check both boxes on the first page of
the application.
All Students who live within the South Fulton County
School District are
eligible for the magnet program, but must apply to
the charter and also qualify and be accepted into
both the Visual &
Performing Arts and the Math & Science Programs
in order to receive
transportation. Students wishing to participate in only one
program should apply to one of the South Fulton County programs
at Westlake High School (Math & Science) or Tri-cities High
School (Visual & Performing Arts). South Fulton County students
may be accepted into the Charter School and choose to
participate in only one of the magnet programs; however,
transportation will not be provided.
All students who
live outside of the Fulton County School District who are
accepted into the charter under the Cost Reimbursement Program
are eligible for the magnet program.
Entrance Requirements Visual
& Performing Arts: Students must have a 75 or higher overall GPA.
Math & Science:
Students must
have an 80 or higher overall GPA, 80 or higher in math and
science classes, and math placement in
Integrated Advanced Algebra I (Math 1) or a higher
level math.
Application Process
1) Complete pages 5-8 of the application and attach the
essay (see below) and a
current transcript to
include grades from 1st semester of current school
year; 2) request teacher recommendation form (page 9) be
completed by a current teacher; 3) submit application by
February 1st deadline; 4) remind recommending teacher
to forward recommendation form to North Springs by February 1st
.
Essay
In
250 words or less, typed and double spaced, students should
respond to the following questions: What are your goals as they
relate to your magnet area(s) of interest? What qualities do you
bring to the magnet program? What do you hope to accomplish
through your studies as a magnet student?
Bus
Transportation
Transportation will be provided by the Fulton County School
System transportation services for all magnet students who live
in the North Fulton County School district as well as South
Fulton County students who reside within the Fulton County
School District and
are participating in both magnet programs.
Application Deadline
February
1, 2011 (postmark date) -
We will continue to accept applications based on
availability of space in required/requested courses. Priority
class placement will be given to individuals who meet the
February 1st deadline.
Notification
Acceptance letters will be
mailed
February 8 - 15.
Information regarding enrollment meetings will be included in
the letter. If notification of acceptance has not been received
by February 21st,
please contact the magnet office at (770) 551-2490 ext. 135.
Eligibility
All high school aged students with residence in the Fulton
County School District but outside the NSCHS attendance zone are
eligible. In addition,
students who live outside of the Fulton County School District
are eligible through a cost reimbursement program.
Students who will be in the 9th, 10th or
11th grade beginning in August of 2011 and who gain
admission through the charter will not have to reapply in future
years.
The Charter admission is unrelated to
the magnet programs at North Springs Charter High School.
Procedures
Complete pages 5 and 6 of application and submit them along with
a current transcript to include grades from 1st

Magnet Program Eligibility & Procedures
Students who are approved through the charter process will be
eligible to apply to the magnet program. Both charter and magnet
boxes should be checked on the first page of the application and
the additional required pages for magnet applicants (pages 7-9)
must also be completed and submitted.
Bus
Transportation
Students will not be
provided Fulton County School System transportation services if
they live outside the attendance zone of the school.
Siblings
Siblings of charter students will be given priority placement.

Cost Reimbursement Information
Eligibility
All high school aged students who reside outside the Fulton
County School District are eligible to apply to attend North
Springs, through the
charter process, for a fee comparable to the cost per
student in Fulton County. In the event we are close to reaching
our building capacity, priority placement will be given to
charter and magnet students who reside in the Fulton County
School District.
Payment
The ballpark figure for cost reimbursement over the past two
years has been $4700-$6800. The actual amount for the 2011-2012
school year will be determined at a later date by the Fulton
County Board of Education. Full payment must be made by the 10th
day of school.
All other Charter and Magnet information and procedures apply.
Placement Requirements for Magnet Applicants:
Math & Science:
Attend a Course Overview/Placement Meeting in May. A
specific time will be scheduled when students/parents come to
enroll in February/March.
Visual & Performing Arts:
Complete an audition (performing arts), a portfolio screening
(visual arts) or an
interview (film and technical theater) in May. See page 3 and 4
for details. A specific time will be scheduled when
students/parents come to enroll in February/March.
